"Tell Me A Story"

Our dynamic, literature-based curriculum

At the Fox Hill School, our curriculum is designed to inspire a love of learning in a nurturing, collaborative environment. We believe that meaningful learning happens when children are engaged, curious, and excited to explore the world around them.

Our Tell Me a Story curriculum is a language-based approach to learning that uses children's literature as the foundation for developing curriculum. As we read stories to the children or listen to the stories children tell us, we pay close attention to what captures their interest. These moments guide our teaching. When a child’s curiosity is sparked, we follow their lead, offering the tools, language, and materials they need to investigate, explore, ask questions, and discover new information. Children learn about things that are interesting to them; things they can touch, look at, talk about, or experiment with. A concept may be investigated for three days, three weeks, or even three months. Children and teachers work together to document and record the learning that takes place and reflect that learning through group projects and classroom displays. By connecting learning to what matters most to them, we make it meaningful and lasting.

At the Fox Hill School, we don’t just teach answers; we teach children how to question, investigate, and think critically, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
