Preschool
Learning Through Play
At the Fox Hill School, our preschool program thoughtfully blends literature-based learning with children’s natural curiosity to create a rich, emergent curriculum. With our "Tell Me A Story" curriculum, each exploration begins with a carefully selected piece of children’s literature, known as a focus book, which serves as a springboard for exploration and discovery.

As teachers read and revisit the story with the class, they observe which illustrations, themes, or moments in the narrative spark the children’s curiosity. These points of interest become the foundation for further learning across multiple domains: science, art, language, math, dramatic play, and more.

This approach allows for both structure and flexibility. While the focus book provides a shared framework, the children’s questions, ideas, and enthusiasm shape the direction of the curriculum. In doing so, they become active participants in their learning journey.
By centering our curriculum on stories that inspire and resonate with young learners, we foster a love of learning and a sense of ownership in the classroom. The result is an engaging, meaningful educational experience driven by imagination, inquiry, and joy.

Our preschool program also includes a variety of enrichment opportunities, such as Kindergarten Readiness, Yoga, Art, Science, and Music, that support the development of well-rounded, curious, and confident lifelong learners.

with Ms. Paige from Create Space
Led by Ms. Paige from Create Space Danvers, our art enrichment sessions invite children to explore a variety of materials, techniques, and styles in a creative, process-based environment. Through painting, sculpting, drawing, and mixed media, children express themselves, develop fine motor skills, and gain confidence in their artistic abilities—all while having fun!

Yoga
with Ms. Erin
Our weekly yoga classes, led by Ms. Erin, offer children a chance to stretch, move, and breathe in a calm and joyful environment. Yoga helps young children develop balance, coordination, and body awareness, while also supporting emotional regulation and mindfulness. Through playful poses and simple breathing exercises, children build confidence, reduce stress, and learn lifelong tools for wellness.

Science
with Ms. Lauren a.k.a. Dr. Beaker
Get ready for bubbling beakers, curious questions, and exciting discoveries! In hands-on science classes with Ms. Lauren—also known as Dr. Beaker—children explore foundational science topics through fun, age-appropriate experiments and investigations. Whether it's mixing colors, observing insects, or testing buoyancy, children build critical thinking and observation skills while learning that science is everywhere.
Kindergarten Readiness
with Ms. Michele, Ms. Emily & Ms. Christina
In the year before Kindergarten, children participate in our Kindergarten Readiness program—a rich, developmentally appropriate experience designed to prepare them for the next step in their educational journey. Guided by Ms. Michele, Ms. Emily, and Ms. Christina, students are introduced to the 95 Phonics Core Program, a foundational literacy curriculum also used in the Danvers Public Schools. Through hands-on activities, structured lessons, and purposeful play, children develop the academic and social-emotional skills they’ll need to thrive in elementary school and beyond.

with Ms. Melanie
Music comes alive at Fox Hill through Kindermusik, a research-based early childhood music and movement program led by Ms. Melanie. Using singing, instruments, stories, and rhythm games, Kindermusik nurtures language development, social skills, and early literacy. These joyful music sessions help children express themselves creatively while building strong brain connections through the power of music. You'll know if it's music day because Ms. Melanie will be wearing her "music shoes!"
